Progress Makes A Girl Happy

Sooo I haven't written on this blog in entirely too long (being busy will do that to you, I guess) but I am back, and hopefully will be better at keeping this thing updated.

I'm not exactly sure how or why this happened, but I completely booked every single weekend in April and have already booked two weekends in May with photoshoots. I feel so lucky that all of my hardwork is finally paying off, and people are seeing the value in my photography vs. other kinds of photography that is out there. Of course, none of it would be possible without the encouragement and word of mouth that I receive from those around me. To those people, I say : THANK YOU!

The fun thing is, all of my  scheduled photoshoots are different. Toddler, engagement x 2, senior pictures, Mother's Day photos...I will definitely be kept busy, but in the best way possible.

Spring is here, which means I am able to do outdoor photography again. For anyone who's keeping tally, that's my favorite way to capture photographs. It's so much more natural than using a lighting set-up, and produces such striking colors. Don't get me wrong, I get why indoor lighting is needed for the winter months and for newborns, but personally I always love doing the outdoorsy stuff.

I had tried to do another 365 Challenge, but failed miserably at it. This time, I believe it was because my life is very monotonous at the moment, and my day-to-day doesn't seem all that interesting. Also, having completed the challenge before, it makes it difficult to want to do it again--especially when all my friends STILL hate getting their pictures taken because of it!

Instead of doing the 365 challenge, I'm thinking about starting a new photo-thing in the style of Tom Robinson and "Feet First" (http://www.tomrobinsonphotography.com/feet-first/). The perspective seems very interesting to me, and it's kind of cool there is a constant in every photo. I'm not 100% sure if I'll do it yet, but it's been a thought I've had. I also am subscribed to a photography magazine and forum, where they give you weekly photo challenges. Perhaps I should partake in those as well?

Either way, I am excited about the progress I can see from last year to this year in regards to clientele, and I can't wait to see what the following months have to bring!

Happy Shooting!
